Interstitials

Meaning in between, this type of advertisement appears in between Web pages, much like a magazine ad is placed between
pages of a magazine. Interstitials can contain streaming videos, interactive presentations, and application applets or merely larger versions of
conventional banner ads. Studies have found that more users interact with interstitials than most banner ads. The two most common types of
interstitials are:

- Inline Interstitials are ads that play in the main browser window after a user clicks a link and before the requested page is loaded.
The surfer is presented with an advertisement page, instead of the page they requested. On this advertising page, they receive the advertiser's
message and have a chance to click through to the advertiser's site. After a set amount of time the user is automatically forwarded to the web
page they had requested.
- Pop-up windows are ads launched into a new, smaller browser window when a page is loading. These type of ads do not interfere with the user's
overall surfing experience. Pop-up windows can contain any standard web display format, including HTML, GIF, JPEG and Flash.
